• Electronic files can be supplied to Tech Tag and Label via CD or emailed to art@techtagandlabel.com or
    info@techtagandlabel.com.

  • When emailing files please include company name and contact name.

  • Email attachments should be compressed using Stuffit Deluxe for Mac or WinZip for Windows/PC.

  • Convert type to outline, paths or curves, or include necessary fonts (both screen and printer versions).
Include all placed graphic files and placed images as separate linked files and not embedded.

  • We will accept files created according to our guidelines in the following native applications:

    • Adobe Illustrator® v. CS2 and earlier. This is our preferred method for Electronic Art. Convert type to outline, paths or curves, or include necessary fonts.

    • Macromedia Freehand® v. 8.0 and earlier. Convert type to outline, paths or curves, or include necessary fonts.

    • Adobe Photoshop® Photoshop, along with PICT or TIFF images cannot be used as submitted and require redrawing into vector format (line art). Additional art charges may apply for redrawing. If you must send a PICT or TIFF image, please send black & white images to size at 1200 DPI resolution.

    • Corel Draw® using the "export" function select "Adobe Illustrator AI" format and the "Convert Type to Curves" option. Placed/imported images do not convert, include as separate files and not embedded.

    • QuarkXPress® v. 4.1 and earlier. EPS, PICT or TIFF placed images do not convert, include as separate files and not embedded.

  • We CANNOT accept the following formats: Pagemaker, PowerPoint and any Word Processing files cannot be used.

  • 4-Color process images must be high resolution (a minimum of 300 ppi).

  • File modifications may be required for flexographic printing reproduction. Modifications include: line screen, screen percentages, font style and point sizes. Please also keep in mind the following during art preparation:

    • Keep the art design 1/16” in from the edge of the label.

    • Extend any bleeds 1/16” outside the edge of the label.

    • It is best to avoid bleeds for any butt cut or sheeted labels.

    • Use a minimum rule line weight of .007” or .5 points. Minimum size rule lines in reverse print are 1 point.

    • The smallest type size is 5 points for positive copy. For reversed copy, the smallest point size is 7 points in a bold face.

    • It is not recommended to use extra bold or light type faces smaller than 9 points.

    • Due to the nature of Flexographic inks, any two colors that trap may produce a third color, i.e., blue over yellow will create green. If this is not acceptable, a 1 point trap line between the colors is recommended. Overprint black.

    • Separate printing plates are strongly recommended for screens. We can print up to six colors (including screens) per label. Double check that your colors are spot colors rather that process colors (CMYK).

    • If your design requires a graduated screen, remember that 10% is the minimum rather than graduating to 0%. Do not blend two color screens.

  • All prepress work will be proofed. Please check your proof carefully. Proofs must be signed, dated and returned to Tech Tag and Label.
